Network Security vs Internet Security

Network Security vs Internet Security: What’s the Difference

What is the difference between network security vs internet security? Both types of security are important, but they serve different purposes. Get to know more about their differences in this post.

What Is the Difference Between Network Security vs Internet Security?

Network Security

Network security is the protection of computers, devices, and other IT services within a single network. It is used to protect both your internal network and your cloud services.

Network security can be further broken down into three categories:

  • Perimeter security – This refers to the firewall or other means of controlling access between networks or subnetworks.
  • Interior security – This refers to security measures taken on individual computers or devices on your network.
  • Cloud-based security – This refers to security measures taken on cloud-based services.

Internet Security

Internet security refers to the protection of computers, devices, and other IT services connected to the internet.

It is used to protect against hackers, viruses, and other types of malware that can attack your network over the internet.

Internet security can be further broken down into three categories:

  • Perimeter security – This refers to software and hardware used to protect your network from attacks coming from the internet.
  • Interior security – This refers to software used on individual computers or devices on your network.
  • Cloud-based security – This refers to software used on cloud-based services.

Which One Should You Use?

If you have a business or a site that is not connected to the internet, then you only need network security.

However, if you have a business or site that is connected to the internet. Then, you must invest in both network and internet security.

How Does Your Computer Get Infect?

Your computer can get infected by a virus in a variety of ways:

  • It can come from an email or a website that you visit.
  • This can also be installed by a piece of software that you download and install.
  • It can even be installed by another computer on your network.

They all have one thing in common. The virus is attempting to get into your computer to infect it.

If it does, it will damage or destroy your data, and possibly steal your personal information as well.

And, once your computer is infected, you must take steps to secure it. And then, you can stop the virus from spreading to other computers on your network.

There are many ways to secure a computer against threats. But one of the most effective ways is with a security program. This protects against viruses and other types of malware.

There are many such programs to choose from. They all have different features that make them better than the others.

But, that’s not the end of it. You also need to take other steps to secure your computer. And you can start by installing a firewall.

A firewall is a software program that controls the incoming and outgoing traffic to your computer.

A firewall protects against attacks by other computers on your network, or even by computers on the internet.

To Conclude

Network Security and Internet Security are both important. But they also have different purposes.

Network security is mainly used to protect your company’s internal network or your website. Internet security is used to protect your computer when it is connected to the internet.

In the end, you need to be aware of both types of security.
