Network Security Appliances are hardware devices placed between an internal (trusted) network and an external (untrusted) network such as the Internet. These devices may include firewalls, IDS (Intrusion Detection Systems), VPN (Virtual Private Networks), and antivirus software among many more. Also, these devices work together to stop threats from entering the trusted LANs.
Within an organization’s internal networks we must use various security measures. These are such as Firewalls. Firewalls will block all traffic from external networks attempting to gain access to a trusted LAN.
However, unless it is explicitly permitted by rules configured on the firewall device itself. Also, other security measures such as VPN software, IDS systems, etc. IDS (Intrusion Detection Systems) will detect abnormal activity on a network and notify an administrator immediately.
So, that action may be taken before damage can be done to the organization’s sensitive data. This is stored on servers within the trusted LANs. Antivirus software will protect an organization’s computers from malware, viruses, and trojans capable of stealing data from hard drives.
This also infects them with malicious code. Now, this code is capable of doing more damage once it enters the trusted LANs within an organization’s internal networks.

Network Security Products are software applications installed on individual computers within a trusted LAN (internal network). These software applications protect sensitive data stored on hard drives on computers. This is within a trusted LAN from being copied, stolen, or tampered with in any way by unauthorized persons.
Since this gains access to these sensitive networks. It may be vulnerable as they do not have firewalls installed protecting them from external threats. A common software application used to protect sensitive data stored on a computer’s hard drive from being copied, stolen, or tampered with is called an Anti-Virus program.
